With two master's degrees in the field of psychology (University of Santa Monica and National University), Lori's passion for her work has breadth and depth. Divorced after 18 years of marriage, mother of a now adult daughter and son, and as a survivor of a life-threatening birth trauma, Lori is able to bring experiential insight, practical application and compassionate attention to her work with clients. Her philosophy is deeply rooted in attachment theory and the belief that in our ability to connect with ourselves and others through healthy attachment we achieve our developmental potential. Without healthy attachments and a solid sense of self, we can become susceptible to cycles of depression, anxiety, addiction, low self-esteem and unhealthy choices. Finding and repairing attachment ruptures is a key component of Lori's treatment approach, in addition to strengthening the core self.
Lori creates a safe and nurturing therapeutic space where clients can practice the skills of relationship and self-compassion and then apply them in daily life. Lori has been certified in EMDR (emdr.com) -- a powerful modality to assist in healing PTSD, trauma, developmental trauma, and helping clients discover their own well-spring of inner resources and wisdom. She also draws heavily on Polyvagal theory and Mindfulness approaches. Lori can help navigate the journey to wholeness, freedom and enriching relationships to self and others. |
